Tier 1
This artifact is from PDE 3144: Introduction to Online/Blended Learning. For this assignment we were asked to create an interactive resume that not only told people about our work experience, but also allowed us to share some of our philosophies on online/blended teaching.
REFLECTION: This assignment allowed me to share my thoughts on elements that are essential to any learning environment, but especially important in the online/blended environment, like students not keeping pace and making myself available to students. These are things that I am grateful to have had an opportunity to think about as those things contribute greatly to student success in an online/blended setting. I chose this artifact to give you the opportunity to see what I believe with regard to these very important teaching elements. Given what I know today, I would allow this to remain the same. My philosophies that are included in this interactive resume remain the same as they were at the beginning of my journey.

Tier 2
This artifact is from PDE 3155: Designing for the Online/Blended Environment. For this assignment we integrated all of the elements we learned from the class into an online lesson. I created my lesson in Canvas.
You can view the entire lesson at https://ccsd.instructure.com/courses/1218370
REFLECTION: This project allowed me to take everything that I learned in not only my PDE 3155 course, but also my PDE 3218: Introduction to Canvas course and put together a working lesson that could be used with students. It forced me to think about the flow and how an online lesson needs to be chunked into pieces for students. I had to think about what resources would be best to use, how to create something that was visually pleasing but not distracting, and how to assess students virtually. I chose this artifact to give you the opportunity to see how I synthesized the lessons from different courses to come up with a cohesive lesson from which students would be able to learn. Given what I know today, I would change some of the directions that were included in the lesson, and I would change the front page. My instructor made these suggestions after reviewing my work, and I believe that she was correct. There should be more on the front page to draw the student in, and my directions must be explicit because that is even more important in an online environment.

Item of Choice
This artifact is from PDE 3107: Adding Online Elements to the Traditional Classroom. For this assignment we were asked to create a lesson to use within our classrooms. Once we completed the lesson with our students, we reflected on the lesson. I completed this lesson with my fully online Topics of Modern Math class.
REFLECTION: This was a great opportunity to facilitate collaboration within my online classroom. I valued this assignment because it gave me a chance to put into practice immediately the things that I was learning in my PDE class. I would do this lesson again with my students, as it is something that I can modify for a number of topics. It is also something that allows students to work at their own level because it encourages them to seek out different methods for solving a problem. I chose this artifact to give you the opportunity to see one way that I have used what I've learned with my students in real time. Given what I know today, I would change this assignment slightly. I would give the students choices of problems to work on or create something that is more of a project to work on to give them something that requires higher order thinking. I also might have them come up with the most common wrong answers to the problems they were working on because that forces them to think deeper and is helpful as a test-taking skill.
